By using runn.site (the "Service") to shorten URLs or visit shortened links, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use this Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to use the Service to create short links that point to, distribute, promote, or facilitate content that:

  • Is illegal under the laws of your jurisdiction, our jurisdiction, or any jurisdiction in which the link may be accessed.
  • Promotes or incites violence, hate speech, harassment, terrorism, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Contains malware, spyware, ransomware, phishing pages, exploit kits, or any code intended to harm users, devices, or networks.
  • Is sexually explicit, obscene, or involves the exploitation of minors in any form. Content involving minors of a sexual nature will be reported to the authorities without notice.
  • Infringes intellectual property rights, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, or publicity rights of any third party.
  • Is used for spam, unsolicited bulk messaging, phishing, scams, or deceptive marketing of any kind.
  • Impersonates another person, company, or organization, or misrepresents your affiliation with any entity.
  • Misleads users about the destination of the link or disguises the true nature of the content.
  • Chains to another URL shortener, redirector, or cloaking service in a way that hides or obscures the final destination.
  • Points to a dead, blank, parked, or expired page, or to any destination that does not lead to functional content.
  • Facilitates the sale or distribution of illegal goods, controlled substances, weapons, or regulated products.
  • Violates the privacy or data protection rights of any individual.
  • Is intended to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to any computer system, network, or account.

3. User responsibility

You are solely and fully responsible for the content of any URL you shorten through the Service, and for all consequences arising from the distribution or use of short links you create. By submitting a URL, you represent and warrant that you have the lawful right to share the destination content and that doing so does not violate these Terms, any third-party rights, or any applicable law.

4. No content responsibility

The Service is a technical tool that creates short aliases for URLs provided by users. We do not review, monitor, control, endorse, or take responsibility for the content of any destination URL. We are not a publisher of user content. Visiting a shortened link is at your own risk, and you should exercise caution as you would with any link from an unknown source.

5. Data logging and retention

When you create a short link, we automatically record the following information:

  • The IP address of the device used to create the link.
  • The original (long) URL being shortened.
  • The generated short slug.
  • The date and time of creation.

When a short link is visited, we update a timestamp indicating the most recent access. We retain this information for at least the duration of the link's active lifetime (currently 6 months from the last recorded use), and we may retain it for longer periods where required by law, for fraud and abuse prevention, or for the investigation of violations of these Terms.

Standard web server access logs (which may include IP addresses, user agent strings, timestamps, and request paths) may also be retained for a limited period for operational and security purposes.

6. Cooperation with law enforcement

We cooperate with law enforcement agencies and comply with valid legal process, including subpoenas, court orders, and lawful requests for information from competent authorities. We reserve the right to disclose any information in our possession — including but not limited to IP addresses, logs, original URLs, and timestamps associated with the Service — to law enforcement or government authorities:

  • In response to a valid legal request, subpoena, or court order.
  • When we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law.
  • When we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm to persons or property.
  • When we believe disclosure is necessary to investigate suspected violations of these Terms or of applicable law.
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of the Service, our users, or the public.

We are not obligated to notify users before making such disclosures unless required by law to do so.

7. Monitoring, removal, and enforcement

We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor links, destination URLs, and usage patterns at our sole discretion. We may, without notice and without liability to you:

  • Remove or disable any short link we believe violates these Terms.
  • Block, suspend, or terminate access to the Service from any IP address, network, or region.
  • Refuse to create short links for URLs we believe are unsafe, unlawful, or inappropriate.
  • Take any action we deem necessary to protect the Service or its users.

8. Link expiration

Short links may expire and cease to function after a period of inactivity (currently 6 months since the link was last opened). Expired links may be deleted or reassigned without notice. We do not guarantee that any link will continue to function indefinitely, and we are not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from expired, deleted, or modified links.

9. No affiliation or endorsement

Shortening a URL through this Service does not indicate any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement of the destination website, its content, its owners, or any third party. The Service is content-neutral and operates as a technical tool only.

10. No warranty

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without any warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we expressly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • That the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or virus-free.
  • That short links will continue to work or redirect correctly at any given time.
  • That destination URLs will remain valid, accurate, safe, or legal.
  • That any information obtained through the Service is reliable or accurate.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we, our affiliates, or our operators be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, reputation, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with:

  • Your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
  • Any content accessed through a shortened link, whether created by you or another user.
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.
  • Statements or conduct of any third party on the Service.
  • Any other matter relating to the Service.

This limitation applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other basis, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Service, its operators, affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service.
  • Your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
  • Any content you submit, link to, or distribute through the Service.
  • Any dispute between you and any third party relating to your use of the Service.

13. Termination

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and without notice or liability, to terminate, suspend, restrict, or discontinue your access to the Service, any short link, or the Service as a whole, at any time, for any reason or no reason. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete any information associated with your use of the Service.

14. Reporting abuse

To report a link that you believe violates these Terms, please use our abuse reporting page. We review reports in the order they are received and at our discretion.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time, in our sole discretion, without prior notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision was made. Your continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service is operated, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

18. Entire agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements, communications, or understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter hereof.

19. Contact

Questions about these Terms may be directed to us through our contact form.
